UPDATE: I love his artwork so much that I thought I'd feature this post again...enjoy!

Peter Strain is an artist/illustrator from Belfast. I recently stumbled on some of his film poster work and thought that it warranted a post. His hand lettering is great.

The Refinery recently created this great poster for The Hunter, starring Willem Dafoe. It was directed by the relatively unknown, Daniel Nettheim and based on the novel by Julia Leigh. Leigh recently wrote and directed the beautiful and haunting, Sleeping Beauty. The Hunter will be released in the US sometime soon.

I really like these new character posters for Rodrigo Cortes' new film, Red Lights. Cortes did a great job on his last feature, Buried. Tackling a film that takes place completely inside a coffin is commendable, especially if it works.

Red Lights is a paranormal thriller that stars Robert De Niro as a psychic being analyzed by Sigourney Weaver, who plays a professor. Elizabeth Olsen and Cillian Murphy round out quite the solid cast. The posters were designed by Rev Creative.

There are certain directors that always have great marketing posters and one-sheets. Almost always, the studio has full control over who they hire for the designs. Frequently they have an in-house design department in charge of marketing. Almost always the posters come out looking like every other poster created within the last five years. Steven Soderbergh is one of the rare breed of directors who seem to always have great poster designs. Here are the majority of poster designs for his films.

Here are the best film inspired prints from the last few months.
